[ THE PERSON · BEHIND THE LENS ]

One voice.
No committee.

Spoiler: when this site says "we," it means one guy. Uncultivated Studios is the music video and commercial workshop of Trip Ross (writing, directing, editing, and often filming every piece himself). The hopeful result is work that feels authored, not factory-made.

[ 01 / WHO ]

Who is we?
We is me.

You've probably noticed the site uses "we" a lot. That's a bit of a lie. There is no team. There is no boardroom. There is one person and a lot of opinions, and the person is Trip Ross.

Uncultivated Studios is a single-creative shop. Concepts start in Trip's head (not in a meeting) and run through every step from treatment to final cut. Writing, directing, editing, and often filming all happen at one desk, in one head.

The work has spanned broadcast TV to DIY cult classics, but the core stays the same: creative ideas executed with precision and bite. If you've ever felt like your music or message got watered down by a six-person crew with twelve different opinions, that's the problem this one-person shop exists to solve. Smaller team, bigger conviction.

So when the rest of the site says "we," picture me, alone, at a desk, talking like I run a small army. It's funnier that way.

[ 02 / APPROACH ]

The song is the script.

We treat the track as the screenplay. Tempo dictates pacing. Lyrics suggest the visual vocabulary. Mood sets the palette. We listen to the song fifty times before we draw a single storyboard. Once we start drawing, every decision answers to the music.

Most videos die in the meeting. We keep meetings short and shoots tighter. You bring the song, we bring the lens, and we don't water either of them down trying to please an algorithm we can't see.
